Avon RFC is a local rugby club in Batheaston, originally formed in 1925 and looking forward to our centenary in a few years time. We are a community-based amateur club that offers an opportunity for adults and youngsters to play rugby. We currently have 2 adult senior teams and a resurrected minis section. Our 1st team plays in the Somerset Premier league whilst our 2nd team provides more social rugby in the Bath Combination merit table. We have official RFU Accreditation which was renewed in April 2020.
Avon has always had the reputation for being a very hospitable and friendly local club. We welcome players of all abilities and provide an experienced coaching team to allow players to develop and reach their potential. We also offer a thriving social scene off the field. Any youngsters interested in joining our fledgling Minis section will also be welcomed into the Avon “family”
Our schools liaison officer conducts free coaching sessions in 5 local schools in the eastern cluster of the city for around 200 youngsters. We regularly stage schools tag rugby festivals in April and October for these boys and girls at our ground. We also host the Bath summer mixed touch rugby tournament each Wednesday evening from May to July. In addition, we run our own popular rugby 7s festival each year.
We make our facilities – both our grounds and clubhouse - available for other purposes to support the local community eg the Bath Archery Club, the Bath Anglers, Family Fun Days, Charity Events, the Batheaston Gardening Club, Christmas Parties for local groups, etc.
